well, as advertised this pump does draw a low amount of energy which was my biggest concern next to performance. it moves a ton of water powerfully when the filter is clean but after two weeks the flow is reduced greatly, from a blasting fountain to a gurgling flow. it still moves water and keeps my pond clear at that flow. but the idea of maintaining a filter every month was bad enough, but every two weeks?
if you have a mucky pond and energy consumption isn't a great concern a submersible pump may be better. still, aside from the maintenance i'm happy with the quality of this pump after 3 months of use. one other caveat. manufacturers web set lists this model with a 3 year warranty, but the box that arrived advertises a 2 year warranty.
